Dr. Dinusha Udukala is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Chemistry at the College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. She graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Colombo and earned her PhD from Kansas State University. She specializes in the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from natural products, the development of biopesticides for sustainable agriculture, and the synthesis of quinazolinone derivatives as urease inhibitors.

With over ten years of experience as an academic at the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, Dr. Udukala has held several key positions, including Secretary of the Women Chemists Committee (2019–present), Secretary for Educational Affairs (2021/22), Assistant Treasurer (2016–2018), and a member of the Editorial & Publicity Committee (2020/21). She also serves as the President of SLAAS Section E2, showcasing her commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the field of chemistry.

As the newly appointed President of the Sri Lanka Academy of Young Scientists (SLAYS), Dr. Udukala brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and dedication to promoting scientific research and empowering the next generation of scientists in Sri Lanka.
