Dr. Tharindra Weerakoon (PhD, 2021) serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, at the University of Colombo. She completed her Bachelor’s degree, specializing in Biochemistry, at the University of Kelaniya in 2017 before pursuing a PhD in Chemistry. Her expertise spans diverse areas, including antioxidant research, cell culture, cloning, natural product extraction, chromatographic techniques, and DNA and RNA analysis.

Dr. Weerakoon has made significant contributions to scientific research, notably through her collaboration with the Research and Consultation Center for Coconut Oil. Her outstanding research achievements have been recognized with two Senate Awards in 2019 and 2021 for publications in internationally indexed journals. With a robust academic portfolio, she has authored over 20 scientific articles, contributed to multiple book chapters, and holds a patent.
