Sri Lankan Academy of Young Scientists (SLAYS) GLOBAL ARM is our latest initiative to connect science enthusiasts beyond the island boundaries towards a sustainable world. Tonight 12th of November 2022, we are delighted to ceremonially launch our first branch in the United States from Portland, Oregon, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Oragon (SLAO) in the presence of their representative Dr Kanchana Weerakoon and the SLAYS President Dr. Thilini A Perera.

What is SLAYS GLOBAL arm?
SLAYS is a gathering of young and energetic professionals engaged in the field of sciences to promote scientific approaches in all sorts of domains not limited to research and development. With the post pandemic developments and escalating economic crisis in the country we are experiencing challenges more than usual and it is high time for us to explore solutions beyond the traditional boundaries. Furthermore, as a country during the pandemic we have witnessed the potential of our citizens to create and develop in house solutions for most of the human requirements through innovations. To sustain the wave of local product and process developments it is a must to maintain a sound research and development framework, which the SLAYS is committed to.
For this purpose we are expanding the SLAYS network by creating a platform to strengthen us from a global perspective through individual/organizational affiliations for mutually beneficial endeavors. While knowledge and resource sharing takes precedence in this effort, we are also open for sponsorships or similar contributions from well wishers. A mechanism driven by the leadership of country coordinators including the SLAYS council members will be established for this purpose and we are overwhelmed to announce our US correspondence as follows.
